december 16th- {hearth}

I do all of my really deep relaxing sitting here, almost always with a warm beverage in hand and some sort of handwork at my side.

I am not one of those people who can just sit and relax by doing nothing. No, I have to keep my hands busy, as well as my brain, if I don’t keep that occupied it starts to cause me issue. My tendency to not be able to shut my thoughts down is why I have picked up so many craft skills over the years. That way I can sit and give my body a rest while keeping my over active mind at bay since it has something else to focus on .

Kevin says watching a fire is a hypnotic, meditative act. I agree with him, as long as I keep my hands busy.

*Everyday this December I am striving to post a picture-a-day in the hopes of capturing the little moments that may seem ordinary at the time but, when strung together throughout this naturally hectic month, become the extraordinary ones that keep me ground until the new year. If you want to join me go here. I would love to share in your days as well.

  1. Wonderful image of your stove – our stove serves the same purpose for us. My wife’s arm chair, table and lamp are the closest to it – her crocheting is done is THIS spot 😉

  2. I love to see this image even larger here in this space. It’s just divine. I love this light. I’m with you mama, I need to be doing something while I’m relaxing, Rich thinks I’m insane. He will say “how can you be relaxing, while your reading that book?” It’s cool how we all relax in different ways, I’m so with you though. Relaxing to me is flipping pages, or doodling, or writing I don’t knot or crochet but I do read and write.
